King Tut's Wah Wah Hut is a small music venue and bar on St Vincent Street that holds 300 people and has played a disproportionate role in British music history. Oasis played their first UK gig here in 1993, spotted by Alan McGee of Creation Records; Travis, Franz Ferdinand, and Frightened Rabbit all made early appearances here before larger success. The venue operates as a normal bar every night, with live music most evenings.
The interior is sticky-floored and unpretentious, the beer is well-priced, and the covered outdoor smoking area catches the street's social life. King Tut's is a music venue first and a bar second, which means the atmosphere on gig nights is excellent and on quiet Monday afternoons it is simply a decent local bar.
