Theatre Royal

Historic Glasgow theatre and opera house with a long performing-arts pedigree

The Theatre Royal is one of Glasgow's key historic performance venues, closely associated with opera, ballet, touring theatre, and the city's long stage tradition. Its present frontage is modern, but the site has been part of Glasgow theatre life since the nineteenth century.

For travellers, the building matters most if you can see a performance, but it is also worth noting on a city-centre walk between Sauchiehall Street and the cultural venues around the north side of town. Check the programme before visiting; the experience is the show as much as the architecture.
