Coral Beach

Little white beach west of Plockton made of coral-like calcified seaweed, looking out towards Skye

About a mile west of the village, a path leads to a small bay of brilliant white "coral" — actually maerl, the calcified remains of red seaweed. On a sunny day the water over it turns a startling turquoise, with the hills of Skye across the sea.

The walk from the village is easy and makes a good morning or evening outing. The water is cold enough that you'll want boots and a wetsuit if you plan to do more than paddle.
