Ben Tianavaig is the hill that dominates the view south from Portree harbour, a steep-sided mass rising straight from the sea. It's a Marilyn, and the simplest ascent starts from the small township of Camastianavaig on its southern side.
The ridge looks out over the Sound of Raasay and across to the mainland. It's a good place to look for golden eagles and white-tailed sea eagles, which hunt along this coast. Pick a clear day: the summit is exposed and the reward is entirely in the view.
