Chisanga Falls drop dramatically over the western escarpment of the Nyika plateau, a single thread of water plunging into the forested valley far below. The falls are at the head of a long descending path from the grassland into evergreen montane forest — a different world from the open plateau above, dense, mossy, and full of birdsong.
The walk in from the nearest track is about three hours return and steep enough to require care, particularly on the descent. The viewpoint at the top of the falls is spectacular; the more adventurous can scramble down to the base. Take a guide from Chelinda — the paths are not well-marked and the forest is genuinely confusing.
