Taining is about three hours from Fuzhou by road and does not have a high-speed rail connection. The most practical approach is bus from Fuzhou's northern bus station, with several services daily taking around 3 to 3.5 hours. Alternatively, taking the high-speed train to Sanming and then a local bus or taxi (about 1.5 hours) is faster in total. Organised day tours from Fuzhou exist but leave too little time for the geopark — an overnight stay is strongly recommended. There is also a direct bus from Xiamen, taking around 4 hours.
