Sokcho is the main gateway city, reached from Seoul by express bus from the Dong Seoul terminal in about 2.5 to 3 hours. Buses run frequently throughout the day. There is no direct train to Sokcho — the nearest rail stations are at Gangneung or Woninju, requiring an onward bus connection.
From Sokcho, city bus number 7 or 7-1 runs regularly to the Seorakdong park entrance area, taking about 15 minutes. Taxis are also available. The park entrance fee is paid at the gate; additional fees apply for the cable car. If coming from Seoul for a day trip, an early morning departure is essential — it is technically possible but leaves very little time in the park.
