Things to Do

The dominant activity in Seoraksan is hiking, and the range of routes caters to everyone from casual walkers to serious climbers. Ulsanbawi is the signature hike — a two-hour climb on iron ladders and stone steps to a dramatic six-peaked granite formation. The Cheonbuldong valley trail is the most popular corridor, passing Biryong Falls and the immense Towangseong Waterfall in a three-hour return walk.

The Gwongeumseong cable car offers quick access to elevated views and the ancient fortress ruins. Baekdamsa temple in the quieter Naesorak valley is the most rewarding longer excursion. Gongnyong Ridge is the most technically demanding maintained trail, with chains and ladders across a narrow granite arête.

Autumn (October) is peak season for foliage colours and the park is very crowded. For solitude, come in late spring or early summer.
