The Chinese-American Museum of Chicago tells the story of Chinese migration, family life, business, and community building in the Midwest. It is a compact museum, but a useful counterweight to the restaurants and souvenir shops that most visitors see first in Chinatown.
The exhibits are strongest when they stay close to Chicago: old photographs, oral histories, and local objects that show how the neighbourhood grew just south of the Loop. It is an easy stop before or after a walk along Wentworth Avenue.
