Daku means "big" in the local dialect, and compared to the other two islands in the trio — Guyam and Naked — Daku lives up to its name. It's a real island with a small fishing community, coconut palms, and long stretches of quiet beach on its northern side. The residents set up simple bamboo tables and serve grilled fish and fresh coconut, making it the natural lunch stop on island-hopping tours.
The beaches here are less crowded than on Guyam because fewer day-trippers make it all the way out. The snorkelling off the northern shore is good, with healthy coral gardens in the shallower areas. Walk the length of the beach and you'll often find stretches that are entirely empty. The tour boats from General Luna include Daku as part of the standard three-island package.
