Taroko Gorge is a national park and the activities are almost entirely outdoors: walking in the gorge on the main highway trail and the side canyons, hiking to waterfalls and viewpoints above, and reaching the mountain plateau for higher-altitude walking. The main gorge road gives access to the best sights; the deeper trails require more time and effort.
