Domwe Pass is one of the highest accessible points on the plateau, a saddle between low rounded hills that opens out onto one of the great long views in Malawi — east to the rim of the Great Rift Valley and, on clear days, the distant blue glimmer of Lake Malawi nearly 2,000 metres below. The grassland here is at its most expansive: short, golden, dotted with antelope and the occasional zebra herd.
It is a short drive from Chelinda along the eastern track and an obvious goal for a half-day game drive. The viewpoint itself is unmarked but obvious — the ridge falls away dramatically to the east. Late afternoon, with the sun behind you, gives the best light over the escarpment.
