Chaitya Bhoomi

Chaitya Bhoomi is the cremation site and memorial of Dr B. R. Ambedkar, the principal architect of India's Constitution and one of the country's most important anti-caste leaders. For Ambedkar's followers it is a major place of pilgrimage, especially on 6 December, when huge crowds come to mark the anniversary of his death.

The memorial itself is compact, with a small dome and a quiet shrine-like atmosphere outside the busiest dates. Its importance is political, social, and religious all at once, and it adds a powerful layer to a visit around Dadar.
