Powai Lake is a man-made lake in Mumbai's north-east, once used for the city's water supply and now better known for its waterside views and the towers of Hiranandani Gardens rising behind it. It is not pristine, but it gives this part of the city a rare open horizon.
The lake is also known for birdlife and crocodiles, so it is a place to look rather than swim. Visit if you are already in Powai or want a break from denser parts of Mumbai.
