Sewri Fort is a British-era harbour fort built on a quarried hill overlooking the eastern side of Mumbai. Its high stone walls, inner courtyard, vaulted rooms, and defensive layout are plain rather than ornate, but they give a clear sense of the city's early colonial fortifications.
The fort also looks over the Sewri mudflats, which draw migratory birds, including flamingoes, in season.
