The Britannia Panopticon is one of Glasgow's most atmospheric historic interiors, a surviving music hall above the Trongate with peeling surfaces and a strong sense of theatrical memory. It is associated with variety entertainment, working-class audiences, and early appearances by performers including Stan Laurel.
The building is not polished in the usual heritage-site way, which is part of its appeal. Check opening arrangements or event times before going, and expect a place that tells its story through survival as much as through displays.
