The Jewelers' Building

The Jewelers' Building is a downtown Chicago architectural stop with a strong masonry facade and expressive detail associated with the city's early skyscraper era. Louis Sullivan was still a draftsman when it was built, but the building shows the kind of ornament and massing that make the Loop rewarding for architecture walks.

It is best treated as a short look while walking between the Art Institute, Millennium Park, and other Loop landmarks.
