Marina City Towers

Twin corncob-shaped concrete towers on the Chicago River, completed 1967 by Bertrand Goldberg as a city-within-a-city

Two corncob-shaped concrete towers on the Chicago River, completed in 1967 by Bertrand Goldberg, are one of the most recognized architectural images in Chicago — the album cover for the Wilco record Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and the image of the city in thousands of photographs since. The towers are mixed-use from bottom to top: parking wrapped around the base, offices and retail at the bottom, condominiums from mid-tower to the top.

The towers can be seen best from the river level on the Riverwalk or from the Michigan Avenue Bridge. The House of Blues venue occupies the ground floor of the complex and is accessible for shows and occasional tours. The towers are private residential buildings; access is to public areas only. State Street at the river.
