The Laramie State Bank Building is an Art Deco landmark in Austin, far west of Chicago's usual sightseeing core. Its terra-cotta exterior is covered with elaborate carvings, giving a local bank building the kind of surface detail more often associated with downtown skyscrapers.
The building is mainly an exterior stop, but it is a strong piece of neighbourhood architecture and a useful reason to look beyond the Loop and lakefront.
