Chicago's main intercity rail terminus, designed by Daniel Burnham and completed in 1925, with one of the most spectacular waiting rooms in American railroad architecture — the Great Hall, a 220-foot barrel-vaulted hall with marble floors, Roman columns, and skylights that has been used as a film location more often than any other interior in Chicago. The Untouchables, Home Alone 2, and The Dark Knight Rises all filmed here.
The station is fully operational; Amtrak runs long-distance services to New York, Los Angeles, New Orleans, and most major American cities from Union Station. The Great Hall is accessible to the public during station hours and is free to enter. Canal Street at Adams.
