The future site of the Obama Presidential Center, currently under construction in Jackson Park at the southern edge of Hyde Park, scheduled to open in 2025. The complex will include the presidential library, a museum, a public garden, and community facilities designed by Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects. The surrounding Jackson Park was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted for the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition and has significant historical and landscape value.
While construction continues, the adjacent Museum of Science and Industry (in the original Fine Arts building from the 1893 Exposition) is the neighbourhood's major attraction. Hyde Park itself is worth exploring on foot for its architectural mix and the distinctively academic character of a neighbourhood built around a great university. Red Line, 55th-56th-57th or 63rd station.
