Millennium Park beyond Cloud Gate — Crown Fountain, Lurie Garden, and the Jay Pritzker Pavilion's outdoor concert lawn

Beyond Cloud Gate and the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, Millennium Park contains several elements worth seeking out: the Crown Fountain — two 50-foot towers projecting video portraits of Chicagoans — is an interactive water installation best appreciated in summer when visitors wade in the reflecting pool between them. The Lurie Garden, at the south end of the park, is a prairie landscape designed by Piet Oudolf and at its best in late summer when the native grasses and perennials peak.

The park connects east to the lakefront path and Maggie Daley Park, which has a large climbing wall and miniature golf in addition to a skating ribbon in winter. The entire sequence from Michigan Avenue to the lakefront is one of the most successful large-scale urban park projects of the early 21st century.
