The broad residential neighbourhood north of Lincoln Park, most famous internationally for Wrigleyville — the tight grid of streets around Wrigley Field where the Chicago Cubs play. On game days the neighbourhood is transformed: every bar on Clark Street fills up, the surrounding streets clog with traffic, and the rooftop bleachers on Waveland and Sheffield avenues — positioned to look directly into the outfield — host their own parallel parties.
Beyond baseball, Lakeview is home to a dense concentration of bars, theatres, and restaurants along Broadway and Belmont Avenue. The Boystown section around Halsted and Belmont is Chicago's main LGBT neighbourhood. Schubas Tavern on Southport is one of the best small music venues in the city; the Southport strip more broadly is one of the quieter, more pleasant shopping streets on the North Side.
