The lakefront in the Lincoln Park neighbourhood, accessible from multiple points, offers the best stretch of accessible public beach in the north-side neighbourhoods. Fullerton Beach and the nearby North Avenue Beach are both served by the park's running and cycling paths and have summer lifeguards.
The lakefront path running south from Fullerton toward the Loop is one of Chicago's most used recreational assets — 18 miles of uninterrupted path along the shoreline, entirely free of motor traffic. The views back toward the city skyline from the lakefront are among the best available without going on a boat. Swimming is permitted at designated beach areas in summer.
