Kingsley Café District (Armitage/Halsted)

Armitage and Halsted intersection in Lincoln Park — the neighborhood's boutique retail and restaurant anchor

The Armitage/Halsted intersection in Lincoln Park is the commercial anchor of the neighbourhood's restaurant and boutique district — a cluster of independent restaurants, wine bars, and upscale casual dining that has been Lincoln Park's social centre for dining since the 1990s. The area runs roughly from Armitage Avenue south along Halsted, with offshoots down Webster and Belden.

The neighbourhood has a higher concentration of long-established independent restaurants than most of Chicago's north-side neighbourhoods. North Pond (in the park itself), Alinea (on North Halsted), and a dozen others maintain the area's reputation for serious cooking. The boutiques on Armitage are expensive and worth seeing for the concentration of independent retail.
