A small but serious museum on West Chicago Avenue dedicated to modern and contemporary art by artists of Ukrainian descent, alongside broader international contemporary work. The institute was founded in 1971 by the Ukrainian émigré community and occupies a converted storefront that has been expanded over the decades.
The permanent collection includes paintings, sculptures, and works on paper from the 20th century, while rotating exhibitions showcase living artists. The museum also serves as a cultural center — hosting film screenings, lectures, and community events that maintain the neighbourhood's Ukrainian identity as the community itself has dispersed. Free or by donation. Blue Line, Chicago station.
