Old Town Triangle District

Historic core of Old Town — a triangle of Victorian-era rowhouses and coach houses north of North Avenue

The historic core of Old Town — a triangle of Victorian-era rowhouses and coach houses bounded by North Avenue, Clark Street, and Ogden Avenue. The neighbourhood developed in the 1860s and retains an unusually intact collection of 19th-century residential architecture, particularly the wood-frame Italianate and Queen Anne houses along Crilly Court and the surrounding streets.

The area is best explored on foot — the narrow streets, brick sidewalks, and rear coach houses feel removed from the rest of Chicago. In June, the annual Old Town Art Fair turns the district into an outdoor gallery with juried fine art; it's one of the city's best-attended cultural events. North Wells Street from Division to North Avenue has the neighbourhood's restaurants and bars. Red Line, North/Clybourn station.
